Next Sunday, April 16th, at 630PM we honor Rodgers & Hart who did write “Spring Is Here,” “My Funny Valentine,” “Blue Moon,” “Mountain Greenery, With a Song in My Heart,” “Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered,” “Where or When,” and so many other wonderful songs which have lasted for almost 100 years. (I wonder which of America’s recent songs will last that long?)
Making a reservation is advised – email michaelsongbook@gmail.com But there will also be tickets available at the door with your $15 cash donation to American Songbook Today, a 501(c)(3) non-profit. The show will last about an hour 15 minutes. Wine/beer available.
Founded over thirty years ago, our mission is to “celebrate the American Songbook, to preserve this musical treasury, and to foster it for future generations through concert and educational workshops.” Some very talented local performers will be singing for you. I will be sharing some fascinating background on Richard Rodgers (music) and Lorenz Hart (lyricist) who collaborated for over 20 years, before Rodgers met Oscar Hammerstein. Greg Spaulding will be accompanying our artists and James Antunez is designing our lights/sound and even singing a solo!
Hope to see you at the Ojai Woman’s Club next Sunday.
