Ojai Police Department invites the community to the family-friendly “National Night Out” at Ojai’s Libbey Park Fountain on Tuesday, Aug. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., to meet first responders from the Police and Fire departments, Sheriff’s Upper Ojai Search and Rescue, and Ventura County Emergency Medical Services.
“This is at the core of what we do as public servants and I can’t think of a better way to get to know our community,” said Ojai Police Chief Trina Newman. “I hope to see everyone there.”
The free event will include crime-prevention advice and give the public the opportunity to “get to know the first-responders serving your community at this fun-filled, relaxing evening out,” according to a written statement from the Ojai Police Department.
The annual nationwide event is organized locally by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office to help prevent crime, build community, and promote police and community relationships.
Among the activities, residents will meet Ojai’s K9 Max and participate in learning about CPR in sidewalk demonstrations. Upper Ojai Search and Rescue Team and others will showcase their life-saving equipment and talk with residents.
Local AIR Pizza mobile truck will have its mobile truck for participants to purchase food, and refreshments will be provided by a local business, according to the Ojai Police Department.
