TALK, BOOK SIGNING, and TOUR

On Sunday, March 26 at 1:30 pm there will be a short talk, book signing, and special tour at The Gables. It is located at 701 N. Montgomery st. The free event is organized by the Ojai Valley Museum.

It is rare that the origins of a major social and political movement can be traced to one woman and one historic site. But that happened in Ojai. Ojai historians and authors Craig Walker and Mark Lewis will discuss and sign their new book. “The Dignity They Deserve: The Story of Grey Gables of Ojai and Its Founder, Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus” has just been published by the Ojai Valley Museum. Tours of the historic site will be provided by resident guides.

Many people know that AARP was founded in Ojai by Dr. Andrus. What they probably do not realize is the importance of Grey Gables of Ojai. It is one of America’s most historic retirement communities. Founded in 1954, Grey Gables was an experiment in living that helped define the modern retirement lifestyle. Learn more about the innovations Dr. Andrus implemented at Grey Gables and pick up a copy of the new book for only $10 (plus tax).

The Gables of Ojai (formerly Grey Gables) is located at 701 N. Montgomery.
