In-Person Ojai Art Center Interview with Lanny Kaufer

Join an award-winning journalist as he interviews author Lanny Kaufer at the Ojai Art Center on Saturday afternoon, March 25, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. For almost half a century, Ojai resident Lanny Kaufer has been offering “herb walks,” nature hikes and workshops focused on the edible and medicinal herbs and ethnobotany of California. Lanny will discuss his new book, Medicinal Herbs of California: A Field Guide to Common Healing Plants, with longtime Ojai journalist Kit Stolz, at this event sponsored by the Art Center’s Literary Branch. The event is free with a $5 donation requested.
Lanny will have copies of his book on hand for sale and signing.
Lanny studied naturopathic medicine and biology at UC Santa Cruz, and taught science, health and natural history to middle school and high school students at Santa Paula High School and multiple other Ojai Valley schools. Now retired, he continues to lead his herb walks, during which he discusses and demonstrates the traditional and modern uses of herbs for food, home remedies, botanical medicine, survival, sustainable foraging, wildcrafting, landscaping, camping, crafts, ceremony and more.
