DISCOVERING THE SACRED IN FILM

with award-winning author, playwright, and screenwriter

Catherine Ann Jones

Oct 6, 13, 20, 27 (Thursdays, 6:30pm)

krotonainstitute.org at 46 Krotona St, Ojai, CA 93023
Sacred is defined as ‘worthy of religious veneration’. What can we view today as sacred
and what can be said to be sacred in our daily lives? Film is without question the medium of our
times. Producer David Putnam (Chariots of Fire, The Mission) once said, “If films were what
they might be that there would be no need to go to church”. Four films will be screened once a
week for 4 Thursdays—not for entertainment alone—but as a catalyst to explore a sense of the
sacred as well as specific human and philosophical ideas. A brief introduction by Catherine Ann
Jones and after each screening, an open dialogue will follow.

  • Mindwalk (Adapted from Fritz Capra’s Tao of Physics) starring Liv Ulman
  • Winter Spring Summer Fall (Korea) – A Buddhist monk and his disciple encounter
    the outer world
  • The Gods Must Be Crazy (Africa)) – a Kalahari native perceives God in a coke bottle
  • Enchanted April (UK)a stellar British cast depicts the story of 4 women fleeing a
dismal London winter to a villa in Italy – in a life-changing adventure.
Live only at Krotona Institute, 46 Krotona St., Ojai, CA 93023

$50 for all four evenings or $15 per show.
