A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS Fundraiser

Ojai’s sense of community is one of the most important reasons many people live here. After the Thomas Fire, the landslides, and now as we seem to be rounding the corner on the pandemic, community support and celebrations are in order. For the holidays, the Ojai Art Center Theater offers a weekend of variety entertainment featuring locals only -only ages six into their 70s. The “A Home for the Holidays” celebration runs December 10 – 12 with evening performances at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday and a matinee on Sunday at 2 pm. This is a fundraiser for the theater and a donation of $10 is requested. Tickets are available online at OjaiACT.org or by calling 805-640-8797.

“Our goal,” said the theater’s artistic director, Tracey Williams Sutton, “is to showcase the many performing talents we have in this beautiful valley. Entertainment includes singing both duets and soloists, monologues, and more. A creative team joined me in collaborating on different segments of the show, which includes Gai Jones, Sue Barry, Kelly Hollis, Jill Dolan, Shannon Penrith, and Jerry Montanez. The musical selection is quite varied. Some well-known songs (O Holy Night, Santa Baby, We Need a Little Christmas) and some unusual and fun songs not heard that often (I Wanna Hippopotamus for Christmas!) and other surprises.”

In addition to the show, a pre-show of entertainment by local musicians is planned. Friday night, Dianne Miller will be performing, and Saturday night, Ojai Madrigali. Both performances begin at 6:30 pm.

Help of Ojai, which recently moved across the street from the Art Center, will be collecting canned goods. Audience members are asked to bring a couple of items to donate. In addition, the Humane Society will be at the Sunday matinee highlighting several pets in need of a new, loving home.

For an evening or afternoon of holiday cheer, don’t miss the “A Home for the Holidays” celebration, December 10-12, at the Ojai Art Center Theater, 113 S. Montgomery Street. A donation of $10 is requested, and tickets are available at OjaiACT.org or by calling 805-640-8797.
