A Presentation and Demo by JB Dyas, Ph.D.
Vice President of Education at the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz at UCLA
“JAZZ, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION”
JB Dyas, Ph.D, will be presenting the quintessential elements of jazz, and how the jazz paradigm is being used in both small businesses to Fortune 500 companies to increase morale, productivity and profits. Any organization, business or individual can follow the jazz musician’s values and modus operandi to make changes in their schools, businesses, and life.
Throughout his career, JB Dyas has performed across the country, designed and implemented new jazz curricula, directed large and small ensembles, and taught a wide variety of jazz courses to students at virtually every level of musical development, from ages 7 to 70, beginner to professional, and learning-challenged to prodigy. He has conducted jazz and tune-learning clinics, adjudicated high school and collegiate jazz festivals, and presented numerous jazz seminars and teacher-training professional development workshops throughout the United States as well as in Australia, Canada, Columbia, Cuba, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Russia, and Turkey. He also teaches jazz pedagogy at the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music and serves as an adjudicator for the annual Grammy Music Educator Award.
Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with JB Dyas and learn from his wisdom and experiences. Wine and cheese will be provided.
