Join us Friday, March 10th for a live performance & broadcast with Zoe Fitzgerald Carter! Zoe grew up in Washington D.C. and has been playing guitar since her father gave her his Guild 12-string when she was thirteen, prompting her to abruptly abandon the violin, an instrument she’d been studying since toddlerhood.

After leaving New York City for the Bay Area, she began playing with local bands – Do Wrong RightThe Deadliners, Rolling Thunder (aBob Dylan cover band),and Sugartown, an Americana string band that found a large and enthusiastic audience for their yearly “Day of the Dead” concerts featuring songs by recently departed musical greats.

In 2018, Sugartown released a CD of Zoe’s original songs, Waiting for the Earthquake. “The album’s direct and piercing lyrics pull no punches,” says award-winning producer/songwriter Monica Pasqual. “And its haunting melodies are perfectly suited to Zoe’s rich and evocative voice.”

Her first solo LP,Waterlines was released March 26, 2021, to rave reviews. “There aren’t any boring moments on Waterlines. They’re all well-crafted songs. On ‘Below the Waterline,’ Zoe sounds like she’s channeling the songwriting style of Nanci Griffith thru a Mary Chapin Carpenter tone” (Americana Highways). “A haunting spirit and a cinematic backdrop to a very articulate and vocally diverse album” (Take Effect). “The album has the heart-tugging, tightly produced feel of Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Randy Newman, Lowell George and Little Feat and the other great LPs of that decade” (San Francisco journalist David Talbot). “Zoe’s impressive acoustic guitar-picking is evident, and the songs on the record are delivered in a variety of styles that highlight their spirited lyrics and her often-ironic sense of humor”(East Bay Express). “A beguiling set of songs exploring stylistic territory beyond her Americana comfort zone”(Berkeleyside).

She is currently recording a new album, Before the Machine, featuring thirteen original songs, many of them written during the pandemic. Several singles will be coming out in early 2023 and the completed album will drop by the end of the year. The show begins at 7pm, and live audience tickets are $25. Broadcast tickets are “pay what you can” $10-$15. No refunds
