Poppies Art & Gifts to Host Book Club Meeting Featuring “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood
OJAI, CA – Poppies Art & Gifts, a beloved local hub for all things creative and artistic, is excited to announce their next Book Club meeting on Tuesday, July 25th, 2023. This event will continue their intriguing and thought-provoking series on banned books, with a discussion of “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood.
Set in the dystopian future, “The Handmaid’s Tale” explores themes of women’s rights, authoritarianism, and individual freedom. Its provocative content has led to it being challenged and banned in various places, making it a fitting inclusion in Poppies Art & Gifts’ banned book series.
The Book Club meeting will commence at 6pm on the cozy back patio of Poppies Art & Gifts, located at 323 E. Matilija Street in Ojai. Participants are kindly asked to bring their own chair to ensure a comfortable environment for everyone.
Book lovers, thinkers, and anyone intrigued by the power of literature and its ability to stimulate dialogue and challenge societal norms are all warmly invited to join. The gathering promises a lively discussion set against the backdrop of Poppies’ creative atmosphere.
“We’ve always believed in the transformative power of literature and the importance of open discussion,” says the Poppies team. “Our book club is a testament to this belief, and we’re excited to delve into the layers of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ together.”
Poppies Art & Gifts encourages those interested to mark their calendars and join them on July 25th for an evening of intellectual stimulation and community connection.
