Major fundraising campaign for new chairs at the Ojai Art Center Theater

(Ojai, CA – July 10, 2018) A major fundraising campaign launches July 16 to raise money for new chairs in the Ojai Art Center Theater. The goal is to raise enough money so that the chairs can be ordered and installed prior to the 2019 season, which will be the 80th anniversary of the Art Center. The theater is the longest running continuously operating Community Theater in California, and a beacon of Ojai pride.

“We have a charming and welcoming small theater in the heart of our very special community,” said Tracey Williams Sutton, theater board president. “It’s a theater that has provided delight for the town’s citizens for almost 80 years. The Ojai Art Center Theater is in need of comfortable seats for those who love the theater. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality of theater and entertainment not just for the citizens of Ojai, but for all those who find comfort in embracing this artistic community.”

Funding must be raised for the chair’s deposit by September 15th. The goal is to have at least $25,000 raised by that date. Total cost of the chairs, removal of the old chairs and installation, and an improved sound and lights booth is approximately $60,000. Levels of donations include a nameplate on a chair, season tickets, wall plaque, commemorative poster, and other items.

“We humbly ask you,” said Williams Sutton, “to please donate toward the comfort of those viewing our wonderful and heartfelt productions. You can add the name of a loved one to a chair, or dedicate a chair to your family, or to your future. Generosity will strengthen the continual bond we feel as a community of people dedicated to promoting and cultivating the arts.”

Donations may be made online as of July 15, or brochures are available now at the Art Center for mail in donations. Full information is available on the theater’s website, www.OjaiACT.org.
