The built environment of the Ojai valley features the work of many well-known, “star” architects. The newest original exhibition at the Ojai Valley Museum highlights the local work of some of those architects. “StARCHITECTURE: Ojai by Design” included are outstanding buildings by Greene and Greene, Myron Hunt and Elmer Grey, Julia Morgan, Richard Neutra, Wallace Neff, Charles Moore, Rodney A Walker, Paul R Williams and others. Many of the buildings featured are designated local landmarks.
Especially because most of the buildings highlighted are private residences, museum director Wendy Barker encourages the community to visit the museum to “explore the valley’s rich, rarely seen, architectural history.”
The exhibition builds on the recently published book, Ojai by Design. The book by historian Craig Walker for the Ojai Arts Commission is available now in the museum’s gift shop.
Attend the free Opening Reception on Saturday, July 7 from 5-7pm. It includes a no host wine bar.
The exhibition will be open from July 7 through October 28.
The Ojai Valley Museum is located at 130 W. Ojai Avenue in Ojai. Free parking is available behind the museum, off Blanche Street. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday noon to 4 pm. Group or school tours available by appointment.
