Ojai’s shopping districts can loosely be organized into four areas; each has its own distinctive style.

The Ojai Village Merchant Experience offers a wide range of shopping opportunities. Among the must-see influential retail experiences are Nomad Gallery & Foundation, where owner Leslie Clark frequently travels to remote western Niger to visit expert artisans and to help support their nomadic lifestyles. Also Barbara Bowman Boutique has been defining and refining the fashion-forward Ojai style for 30 years. Rains Department Store has been in the same family, and location, since 1914. The Arcade itself was built around this friendly department store with old-fashioned service with the latest offerings.

Beyond the Arcade visitors and locals can find custom-made experiences including Bart’s Books, the world-famous outdoor bookstore, and also the Mob Shop, the mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. The Ojai Valley Museum preserves and promotes Ojai’s culture from its beautiful venue, the former Thomas Aquinas Church building.

Another key cluster is behind the Arcade at Porch Gallery, where top art from the around the country can be found in their exciting, edgy exhibits.  On Sunday mornings during and after the nearby Ojai Farmers’ Market many Ojaians are known to cluster on the porch for live music and conversation.

Ojai is also home to our very own dispensary district, nestled along Bryant Circle. There are a selection of shops to choose from, including the very popular Sespe Creek Collective, awarded Best Dispensary in Ventura County multiple years running.

On the corner of Matilija & Montgomery Streets you can find the A&A Relaxation Station, founded with a mission to make massage an affordable part of daily life. Uncluttered by tourists, yet lined with local favorites that honor Cali-hip tradition including Bookends Bookstore, and Terramor Organic Home. Find  eateries, Coffee Connection & Papa Lennon’s Pizzeria. Family-owned Farmer & The Cook turns into gathering spot for the Meiner’s Oaks community with a fresh, vegetarian kitchen and homegrown produce for sale. On the weekends enjoy music and the pizza oven, and especially the locals.
